clearance between the outside edge of the tire and the inner fender lip. The bat was started with the smaller diameter of the neck at the front of the wheelwell. The car, driven in reverse, would 'roll' the bat around and mold the sheetmetal outward. More clearance was acheived as you pulled the bat towards you, increasing its working diameter. Done right, it actually worked. In the hands of an amatuer, there was major damage... and you ruined your bat to boot! Don't try this at home....gordo
